I don’t watch much television.
Other than it having limited entertainment value, we live in the sticks – so satellite or cable are really our only choices for any sort of reception. Being frequently on the road, and being busy people, we just can’t justify the expense.
So, when I found images of the Food Network’s The Barefoot Contessa’s newly built barn published in House Beautiful – I felt compelled to find out more.
This is not just the average barn. Which gives just a small peek into some of the possibilities which can be created with a post frame (pole) building.
The barn is a actually more of a second home. A home for Ina Garten’s fan favorite Food Network cooking show – Barefoot Contessa. For those who are followers of Ina’s, you watched her transition a few years ago from taping her beloved show in her home in East Hampton to taping in her newly built barn which very much resembles her home kitchen but was necessary to build, she comments, because she needed a home to go to after work. A Belgian country style structure, designed by architect Frank Greenwald, the barn provides her the space and ability to entertain and eat outdoors as so many of her guests love to do when invited over, as well as the separation from work and home when taping is taking place.
Most of us do not need a place to tape our television shows, however most do dream about creating more usable space – for a plethora of uses. And the chances are, if you can dream of a challenge which needs a building, chances are a pole building will be the most economical and flexible solution.
I can’t promise you’ll be in House Beautiful, like Ina Garten, however the right design can be a thing of beauty for you!
